Silver has been used for hundreds of years. The Ancient Greeks used silver vessels for water purification. The Pioneers used silver prevent dysentery, colds and flus and to keep their water safe. Australian Settlers suspended silverware in their water tanks to slow spoilage. They also used topical silver antiseptic solutions during World War II.

Silver for medicinal purposes was developed in the late 1800's. There were approximately 48 different silver compounds on the market by 1940. The interest has grown recently in silver due to the emergence of antibiotic resistance bugs and the growing ineffectiveness of many antibiotics. More than 90 percent of staph bacteria are resistant to penicillin. In October 2007, according to a report from the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), public health authorities estimated that MRSA strains are causing more deaths in the US than AIDS! Silver preparations do not have the same problem with bacterial resistance.

Why Now and Why Silver Shield?

In 2006 a brand new patent with new technology and unique benefits was approved for Silver Sol (Silver Shield). The patent number is (7135195) and is very interesting to read. Silver Sol is created by using  volts of alternating current. This process results in a preparation that resonates over 900 terahertz with a pure silver core that is missing two electrons in its outer shell. This Silver Sol functions as an antibiotic but is unique because bacteria do not mutate or become resistant to it. It is a much different silver than colloidal silver.

Silver Shield (Silver Sol) from Nature's Sunshine is an effective product and can be taken in conjunction with other medication and antibiotics. Silver Sol (Silver Shield) works because it is delivered to the site requiring attention by one of the following three ways:

• Silver Oxide - Kills bacteria on contact by pulling one electron from atoms comprising the bacterial cell membrane, thereby rupturing the bacterial cell.
• Resonance - Silver Sol resonates at 890-910 terahertz. This is the same antimicrobial frequency used in "blue" germicidal laboratory lights. Silver Sol nano particles are small enough to enter and rupture host cells via resonant frequency without additional risk of exposure to the surrounding tissue.
• Magnetic Viral DNA Disruption - Viruses contain a capsid that contains incomplete DNA segments each containing a slight magnetic charge. Silver Sol particle is engineered with an opposite charge that attracts the viral DNA and mechanically interferes with the ability of viral DNA to replicate. Healthy DNA does not contain a magnetic charge and remains unaffected by the charge of the Silver Sol.
